Take a moment to thank a soldier

By Miss Tina · December 7, 2009 · 0 Comments · 10 Views

Today I received an email that really shocked and amazed me! This is so amazing and great, please continue to pass this word along!

Xerox has started a new website and program to say Thank You to our troops over seas! If you go to http://www.LetsSayThanks.com/ then you will be able to pick a card, personalize it (but nothing too personal) and submit it. The small amount of personalizing that you add to the card is; your name, your home town, and then whatever pre-written personalized message that you have chose, or you can chose to write in your own. Then Xerox will add in your personalized touches, print your card, and send it to a soldier overseas. I really believe that everyone should take the two minutes out of their day to send them a card this holiday season! It is really important to thank those who give us our freedom!

And I am sorry, but your comments will be deleted if they are putting down any soldiers or the war. I have not asked if you agree with the war, and that is besides the point! I am just asking everyone to support those who risk their lives for our freedom here. Supporting a soldier is not support a war! :) Thank you for being respectful!

A Good Desk Chair

By Miss Tina · December 4, 2009 · 0 Comments · 12 Views

The proper chair is a very important desk necessity, like proper lighting if you do not ensure you have the best it can result in many issues down the line. The importance of a chair truly will affect all other aspects of your work. If you get a chair that is too comfy then you may doze off while trying to read or get work done. If you get a chair that is too uncomfortable then you will be unable to really focus on your work.

The other things that you will want to look for in a great desk chair is proper back support. This will come in a variety of different forms or manors. You may want a high back, or maybe a low back works better for you. You may want one with an adjustable back, or you may even want to get additional back support to add to your chair. Depending upon your desk you may want a desk with arm supports; if you do then you have the option of unpadded arms or padded arms. You may want a desk chair with cushion or maybe you will want to get a desk chair that is more ergonomic.

You may be on a budget and cannot afford a desk chair that offers proper support and the amount of cushion that you would like. Be sure that when you do purchase a chair that it is going to support you enough where you can truly work in it without causing your body pain. Be sure to know your own personal pressure points or issues are so that you know where your specific concern is. Your body is different than everyone else so be sure you get what works best for you!

Proper Lighting is a Desk Necessity!

By Miss Tina · December 3, 2009 · 0 Comments · 17 Views

This is something that many people over look yet may affect your work quite a bit. If you do not have proper lighting it can force you to strain your eyes, which may lead pretty serious headaches. It also could affect your vision long term. If you do not have proper lighting it also may affect the way that you sit which can affect your body in some pretty serious ways as well! I know that as you read this you are probably saying that this does not apply to you, and that you are just fine squinting for a few hours each night while checking your email… you are wrong! Even a few hours a night with squinting head tinting can completely ruin your vision after years!

Proper lighting is very important in any situation where you are reading, taking notes, writing or working on anything. Do not downplay this… I am warning you, a friendly warning of course. I personally am not a fan of desk lamps because my desk is not very big, and I really enjoy open space. I do however think that a floor lamp near your desk can be a great way to save your eyes from straining.

If you use your desk for more a wide variety of uses you may find it helpful to use a floor lamp that has an adjustable head. This way you can move the lamp head to light over whichever part of the desk works best for you at that time. If you are reading or writing you may need more direct light on an area of your desk than if you are just using the computer.

Here is a variety of different desk lamps to give you some ideas for your own desk.

Below are just some examples of floor lamps that you may like to have.

Dictionary and Thesaurus

By Miss Tina · December 2, 2009 · 0 Comments · 8 Views

These desk necessities need much less of explaining. I am sure that you know what they are used for, and why they are important. However, I am sure that you also do not use them enough or the Thesaurus at least!

I know that I am constantly saying how much I want to improve and grow my vocabulary, yet I have a secret to tell you… I do not even have either of these resources offline! I do use Dictionary.com quite often! However, I never use Thesaurus.com… I know, I know, how dare I? This is one thing that I plan to put at the top of my to-get list.

A thesaurus is a great way to increase your vocabulary. If you truly want to increase your vocabulary then I have challenge for you. Every time you use or write a word that you feel does not reach your level of desired vocabulary then pull out your thesaurus and look up a replacement word for it. Once you use that word as a substitute a few times it will come naturally as the word you use on a regular basis!

Keeping these two items on your desk or near your desk will remind you to use them. So don’t forget to keep them somewhere where you will see them, and use them! Good luck, and quiz me on some new vocabulary when you learn it. :)

3 Ring Binders, Folders and Notebooks

By Miss Tina · November 21, 2009 · 0 Comments · 42 Views

Your desk needs at least one of the three following item; 3 Ring Binder, Folders, or Notebooks. You need this so that you can avoid the random loose leaf paper stacked (and floating) around your desk and office! One of these methods would help you to keep your notes, to-do lists, reminders, and other lists in a quick to access easy to find place!

As always your desk necessities will vary depending upon what you use your desk for! If you only use it for small at home projects and luxury, then you would probably only need to keep around a notebook or loose leaf paper. If you use your desk for school work, home business or research then you may want to keep all three of these things handy!

Keeping Paper Around the Office Still

By Miss Tina · November 17, 2009 · 2 Comments · 23 Views

I do understand that we are all conscious of the need to go green; however, sometimes it is important for your sanity to have some paper near your work place! I do recycle all paper in my home office though! Not only do I recycle at my home, but I will save paper with one clean side and use it as scrap paper to jot all my notes down on so that I do not waste more paper. I think that it is necessary to keep line paper, printer paper and notebooks in my office.

Highlight your world!

By Miss Tina · November 16, 2009 · 0 Comments · 16 Views

Another desk necessity is the wide variety of highlighters. Now-a-days it seems as though you have quite a wide selection when you walk up to your highlight section of your local office supply store. They offer many different brands, colors, sizes, styles and ones with different features! It is coming much more common to see highlighters being turned into multi-use tools to help improve productivity. Sometimes these special features will not help you at all, but like always depending upon your use you may really want to look at the highlighters with multiple uses!

Hail the mighty pencil!

By Miss Tina · November 13, 2009 · 0 Comments · 24 Views

Now this fully depends upon personal preference as well. I personally prefer to only use pencils when it comes to notes in planners. I have always been a black pen type of girl, but I do think that having a pencil close by is always very handy and important, especially if you take notes quickly and don’t write very well. Then when you have time to go back and look at your notes so that you can fix any parts that may be hard to read before you forget what they are!

There still is a variety of choices when you come to pencils though, you can get the old style number 2 pencils, regular plain mechanical pencil or expensive and fancy mechanical pencils. Again this all should depend upon your use for the pencil. Beware that when you do use a pencil you do not one that is too sharp or pointy because then it can tear through your paper if you are a hard writer. That may explain my dislike for pencils because I typically do press pretty hard, which leads to a lot of broken tips and tears in paper.

Thank You To ALL Veterans!

By Miss Tina · November 11, 2009 · 0 Comments · 10 Views

So I would like to apologize that this was not posted this morning, but of course I could not go the whole day without taking a moment to give my thanks to all veterans out there on this amazing Veteran’s Day! I know that some may think that this is not relevant to this blog, but you could not be any further from the truth! We owe all freedom's that we have to Veterans!

As I always say, HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE! At the POW, MIA, KIA, Veterans Rally that I go to every August sells shirts with this on it, and I think that is one of the best sayings that I have ever heard. It is a direct and simple way to get people to really think about why they have what they have!

Thank you to every Veteran out there! To the ones who have given their lives, to the ones who have given their sight, to the ones who have given their limbs, to the ones who have given their hearing, to the ones who have given their mobility, and to all others who may have been injured in war, or after war… THANK YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART AND LIFE! I know that I could never have the luxury of following my dreams and living the life that I have if it was not for you! Thank you to all of the families who have lost their own American Hero during the wars. I hope you know that their bravery will never been forgotten or taken for granted!

I would love to thank a veteran today; I would love to thank them all for their amazing ability to give their life to and for their country! You are an amazing set of people, who deserve so much more than you have got! May you never have to deal with protester's, or negative words because you are the one giving them their rights to protest! May you always know what you did is greatly appreciated by so many people; if you do not see it or do not believe it email me (teenskee@gmail.com), IM me (christinamh86@yahoo.com), contact me on here and I would be glad to give you many thanks from all of my grateful friends and loved ones!

Once again, I have to say just a simple thank you that I mean in no simple way!

The Pen

Ball Point Pens

So the first question you may think of is why must they be ball point pens? I suppose this is a personal preference any pens will work; I just am quite picky when it comes to pens. I do not like gel because they smear easily, I do not like girly fancy ones because color really matters to me! Anyway just find whatever pens you write the best with. You want it to flow smoothly, but not so smooth that it is messy. Just make sure you find ones that fit comfortably in your hand. Also be sure that it does not cause you to press hard when writing, otherwise your hand will tire quickly, and your writing will become messy quite quickly.
